Michaela & Cody’s Stallion Oaks Ranch wedding was in Descanso, CA (population 1,423). I had the opportunity to visit the venue a few months ago & could see right away how perfect it was going to be for a down-home couple like Michaela & Cody. Everything was truly gorgeous. No detail was overlooked in turning this rehab facility into a wedding-worthy barn.
THE STALLION OAKS RANCH WEDDING CEREMONY
For the ceremony processional, they chose “Cowboys & Angels” by Dustin Lynch. Michaela entered to “She’s Everything” by Brad Paisley. And the groom chose “All my Rowdy Friends (Have Settled Down)” by Hank Williams Jr. for the recessional. During the ceremony, the couple branded their initials into a piece of wood to display at their home. The groom welded the brand himself! Neat idea 🙂
THE MOTHER-SON DANCE ROSE PRESENTATION
Cody’s mom got the royal treatment for the Mother-Son Dance. Not only did Asst. DJ Melissa play a clip of “Mama Tried” by Merle Haggard as I introduced the dance (“My Wish,” Rascal Flatts), but Cody presented her with a special bouquet at the end of the dance.
SONG CHOICES
The cake was cut to “Sweet & Wild” by Dierks Bentley. The Bouquet was tossed to “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” by Shania Twain. Cody took the garter off to Tim McGraw’s “Real Good Man” & tossed it to Brad Paisley’s “I’m Still a Guy,” which he asked me to follow up with a buddy sing-along to Blake Shelton’s “Boys ‘Round Here.”
BUSTIN’ OUT OF THE BARN
I typically recommend placing the bar near the dance floor to increase the par-tay vibe; however, there was not enough space in the barn & the bar had to be placed immediately outside the barn door near the dance floor. What ended up happening? Of course….dancing broke out on the patio as guests waited in line for drinks. Fast on our feet, Melissa & I placed the portable PA from the ceremony & one of our lights out on the porch & essentially created two dance spaces.

At Michaela & Cody’s wedding, I got to work with a great photographer, Jessica from France Photographers–an all-female photography crew based in San Diego.
