enchanted prado grand ballroom wedding

There was only one San Diego wedding DJ at Diosa  Ryan’s Prado Grand Ballroom wedding in Balboa Park…and it was yours truly!

Although you will soon be reading about Diosa (pronounced ‘Josa’) & Ryan’s wedding in the San Diego Union Tribune, read all about it here first! This fun couple met in Washington state the night before Diosa was set to move to San Diego. Shortly thereafter, Ryan, who is in the military, was re-stationed to San Diego…and set out to track down “the pretty girl” from the party up in Washington state! Their first date was camping at San Clemente. Ryan proposed up the shore in 2014 at Point Loma. Diosa said yes before he even finished the sentence!

“ENCHANTED GARDEN” THEME FOR THIS PRADO GRAND BALLROOM WEDDING

This Prado Grand Ballroom wedding had an “enchanted garden” theme. The tall floral centerpieces set on beds of moss. There were lanterns & candles lining the stage. The coordinators even wrapped a green vine around my microphone stand! Although the setting was gorgeous, what really struck me was how genuinely happy Ryan & Diosa were all day long–one of the happiest couples I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with!

THE MUSICAL SELECTIONS

Aside from being happy, Ryan & Diosa had great taste in music with a lot of unique song choices that I enjoyed. The wedding party & the couple entered the ceremony to Aoi Teshima’s “La Vie en Rose.” The newlyweds entered the reception to Bobby Darin’s “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.” They went straight into their First Dance, “Somebody to Love” by Valerie June. I also enjoyed the choice for the Father-Daughter Dance, “Sweet Pea” by Amos Lee.

CAUGHT WITH THEIR PANTS DOWN

After a trip to the popcorn bar & a slice of cake, the crowd rolled up their sleeves for the business of dancing…and dance they did! Diosa grew up dancing & all of her dance troupe made it out to the wedding. They put on a surprise performance of their rendition of “I Will Survive” during open dancing. Not to be outdone, the groomsmen all dropped their trousers down to their ankles (boxers stayed up) during “Piano Man.” Check it out for yourself in the video here!
