Morgan Todd Fun Marina Village Bay View Room Wedding 1

I met Morgan and her entourage (her mom, the groom’s mom, some bridesmaids, etc) at the San Diego Wedding Event last summer…and within one hour of her booking what is probably the most popular wedding day of the year, I was already having to turn other brides interested in her date away. Morgan & Todd’s Marina Village Bay View Room wedding was a laid-back and casual affair where family, friends, and fun were the priority. Set in the Bay View Room, Todd & Morgan decorated in some non-traditional colors–bright yellow and royal blue. Why? You’ll have to watch the video below to find out 🙂

THE MARINA VILLAGE BAY VIEW ROOM WEDDING RECEPTION

I lined the wedding party up in an upstairs loft area of the venue (which was turned into a kids area–genius!) for the Grand Entrance. Everyone came in to Michael Jackson’s “The Way You Make Me Feel.” Mr. and Mrs. stepped out to Katrina & the Waves’ “Walking on Sunshine,” a unique choice that I loved! After a brief “welcome & thank you” speech from the groom, toasts were made & guests dismissed to dinner.

I LOVE THE SAN DIEGO TACO COMPANY!

While Mexican food is certainly a popular choice at so cal weddings, I have to say the San Diego Taco Company put the competition to shame! They provided the best wedding Mexican food I’ve had (outside of Mexico, of course)! Real cheese sauce (no plastic) for nachos. The fresh tortilla chips were delicious. Highly recommended if you’re in the market for Mexican food at your wedding. A+ They totally made this Marina Village Bay View Room wedding dinner (and appetizers) amazing!

FIRST DANCE & A GROUP PHOTO ON THE DANCE FLOOR

The First Dance was “Everything” by Michael Buble, “Find Your Wings” by Mark Harris was the Mother-Son Dance choice–pull out your tissues! The bride & her dad had a special dance prepared when it was their turn–they’d been studying some choreography to one of their favorite jams: “In the Mood” by the Glenn Miller Band. I slowed it down to about 80 beats per minute, just the way they’d rehearsed it. We got everyone on the dance floor for a group photo….which was rockin’ since the photographer, Cate Batchelor, had the ability to stand up in the balcony to take it! Ya can’t beat that.

DA-DA-DANCING!

We had a lot more dance time at this Marina Village Bay View Room wedding than usual, which was a refreshing change from trying to squeeze the party of a lifetime into 60 or 90 minutes! This crowd rocked out to old and new, line dances and Michael Jackson moves, fast and slow. I taught them the Wobble line dance too. They also had a blast with my collection of party props–hula hoops, silly hats & glasses, glow sticks, etc.

THE LAST DANCE

They left the last dance choice to me, so I played something I imagined was reminiscent of Todd’s proposal to Morgan: “Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World,” by Iz (the Hawaiian version). Check out our perfect night cap in the video here.
