This Gershon Bachus Vintners wedding was also published on Borrowed & Blue San Diego wedding blog.
“Leave the Gun. Take the Cannoli” (yes…from “The Godfather”). OK, so Robert & Valerie weren’t really mobsters or toting guns….but much of Valerie’s family had flown in from Italy for her big day, singer Paul Elia hypnotized us all with his amazing renditions of Dean Martin & Bobby Darrin big band tunes throughout the cocktail hour & dinner, and fresh, home-made cannolis were passed around after dinner. And let’s not forget the fact that this Gershon Bachus Vintners wedding came with lots of the winery’s own red wine. So…it did feel a little “Godfather-y.”
THE “HAPPY” COUPLE
Robert & Valerie are truly one of the happiest couple’s I’ve had the privilege of working with in my entire career. Every time I looked at Robert during dinner, he had a huge grin on his face. I also caught the couple sneaking lots of kisses & hugs throughout the night 🙂
THE CEREMONY
I provided microphones & sound engineering for the ceremony, but guitarist Timur played the music. Singer Paul Elia handled cocktail hour + dinner music, but I MCed & played music during his breaks. The Grand Entrance song was “Twist & Shout” by the Beatles. The newlyweds entered to Pink’s “Get the Party Started.” The First Dance was “Then” by Brad Paisley. The bride & her dad Matt danced to “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts, while the groom & his mother Cecil & Grandma Turner swung to “Volare” by Dean Martin.
THE GERSHON BACHUS VINTNERS WEDDING RECEPTION
After a Money Dance in the style of Robert’s family tradition, some dancing, and cake, he garter was removed to “You Shook Me All Night Long” & tossed to “Pretty Fly (for a White Guy)” by the Offspring. Beyonce’s anthem then cried out, “All the single ladies. All the single ladies…” and signaled the beginning of the Bouquet Toss. My do not play list consisted of: “YMCA,” “Macarena,” “Chicken Dance,” jerking, “Cupid Shuffle,” “The Wobble,” and “Gangnam Style.” The couple’s choice for the last dance was “All My Life” by KC & JoJo.
GERSHON BACHUS VINTNERS WINERY, THANK YOU!
Robert + Valerie are now off to Cabo San Lucas for a super fun honeymoon! Also, a big thanks to Christina of the Gershon Bachus Vintners winery who allowed DJ Staci, an “outside” vendor, to come and DJ! Not quite sure how the “party props” offered in our DJ packages might be used by your guests on the dance floor? Check out the video here!
