Of all the San Diego wedding DJs who have never eaten at In-N-Out, Hannah and Brian chose me to DJ and MC their Secluded Garden Estates wedding with an In-N-Out flare on Sunday, October 8, 2017. What can I say…I’ve been vegetarian since I was 14, and I moved to California when I was 18 (I grew up outside of In-N-Out territory).
THE LOVE STORY
Hannah & Brian met 3 years ago when they worked together at In-N-Out (where they both still work…along with about 1/3 of their guests). A year ago, Brian and Hannah were hiking at Lake Tahoe…when Brian got down on one knee to ask Hannah a very important question. Together, they enjoy taking care of their cats (Sola, Wrigley, & Joey) and their dog (Harvey). They are planning a camping trip for their honeymoon.
THE CEREMONY
Hannah & Brian requested classical music for the ceremony prelude. The groomsmen entered to Lord Huron’s “She Lit a Fire.” The bridesmaids entered to Lord Huron’s “The Night We Met.” Hannah entered to Iron & Wine’s “The Trapeze Swinger.” After their officiant (their former government teacher and Asst. Principal) whipped out an In-N-Out hamburger wrapper and schooled us on the small, printed Bible verses on all In-N-Out packaging. After they were pronounced husband & wife, they exited to “Eight Days a Week” by the Beatles.
THE SECLUDED GARDEN ESTATES WEDDING RECEPTION
Hannah & Brian made their official Grand Entrance to “We Are the Tide” by Blind Pilot. After a yummy BBQ dinner (and a group photo of all the In-N-Out peeps in the house), they cut their cake, and then there were two toasts. Brian danced with his mom to Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide.” Hannah danced with her dad to “Daughters” by John Mayer. Then Hannah & Brian shared their First Dance to Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect.” They asked me to invite their guests to join in their dance about half way through the song.
THE PLAYLIST
For the cocktail hour/dinner playlist at this Secluded Garden Estates wedding, the groom provided a complete playlist featuring the Shins, the Killers, Fleetwood Mac, Lord Huron, Alt J, Eddie Vedder, the Cure, and Iron & Wine. They were very open for dance music–they just wanted mostly newer music since the majority of the guests dancing were young In-N-Out co-workers.
