If you have chosen the Leo Carrillo Ranch, a historic ranch in Carlsbad, as your wedding venue, congrats! This is a lovely venue with a story, some character, and…peacocks! Based on my experience working here, I’ve compiled this post of quintessential Leo Carrillo Ranch wedding secrets for you.
PROS OF HAVING A LEO CARRILLO RANCH WEDDING
- Lots of easy, free, convenient parking
- Easy to find
- Pick your own caterer, DJ, officiant, and photographer
- Beautiful space with a unique story
- Ceremony site located on the property
- They only have one event going on at a time
- A myriad of places to take amazing photos
CONS OF HAVING A LEO CARRILLO RANCH WEDDING
- Noise restrictions
- Having a slope and stairs (two levels) may be challenging for some older or handicapped guests
- Not the standard load-in for your vendors (only one can load/unload at a time, which must be scheduled and requires an escort)
Considering the pros and cons, I give the Leo Carrillo Ranch two enthusiastic thumbs up.
TIPS FOR A LEO CARRILLO RANCH WEDDING
- Make sure to place your cake near the dance floor (not up at the ranch house) so that your guests don’t have to, not just leave the dance floor, but leave the area to watch you cut it
- It gets chilly after the sun goes down…you may consider renting heaters for after dinner
- Be careful to keep things centralized to ensure the most high-energy party, if that is a priority (don’t put the photo booth by the pool, a s’mores station up by the brick oven, the bar up at the house, and the dancing down at the bottom of the hill).
