I met Kaitlyn & Josh at the San Diego Wedding Event but got to know them most as we planned their Bahia Hotel wedding reception–of course! They had gone to high school together, both playing in the band. But it wasn’t until ten years later when Kaitlyn ran into Josh while he was working at T-Mobile that the sparks began to fly.
THE BAHIA HOTEL WEDDING CEREMONY
This Bahia Hotel wedding had a very casual, laid-back vibe with the ceremony not getting kicked off until 6:00 PM on Sunday night as the sun sank down on the San Diego water. Guests took their seats as selections by Yanni played. The bride entered to Pachelbel’s “Canon in D.” The recessional was Heavy D’s “Now That We Found Love.” Love that!
THE RECEPTION
There was not a bad view from anywhere at this wedding. We were on the top floor of the Bahia looking out over the other side of the bay for cocktails, dinner, & dancing. This no muss-no fuss reception did feature a very cool groom’s cake that pretty much bled testosterone (hockey stick anyone?). Just the names were given for the bridal party entrance, and they all came in to just one song–“Party Rock Anthem” by LMFAO. The newlyweds entered to Justin Timberlake’s “Take Back the Night.” See it in the video here.
THE DANCE FLOOR
I got the dace floor started with Macklemore’s “Can’t Hold Us.” It was my first time using this as the opener–worked great! I must admit that I did not expect as much dancing from this late Sunday crowd as I did. They rocked out until abut 11:00….pretty good for a Sunday crowd! I was even able to sneak in some of the groom’s Jamiriquoi jams & the Skrillex remix of Benny Bennassi’s “Cinema” for the bride.
The food & all the multitude of desserts were all fab! The staff was friendly & professional. Parking/loading was not our favorite, & both guests/staff complained about the slow elevators all night. As I have noticed is common at hotel weddings, the dance floor was probably double the size it needed to be.
XOXO – THANK YOU
Regardless, at the end of the night, the bride & her family (who were all squeezed into the elevator at the time) thanked us profusely. Interesting side note: not one but two different guests mistook me for the wedding coordinator since I was everywhere getting things moving all night long. I took it as a compliment….but, no, I don’t know what happened to the gifts that were left on the table at the ceremony site 🙂
